About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We're hiring graduates across the South Island right now. Rather than locking you into a single track from the start, this programme is designed around rotation. Over your first months, you'll move across teams within Halter's go-to-market and customer function, gaining firsthand experience across business development, territory management, customer onboarding, and customer support, before finding where you fit best and then building your career from there!

The South Island is one of the most important and exciting regions in Halter's growth story. Getting in now, at this stage of the journey, is a genuine opportunity.

*One more thing - we take cover letters seriously. Tell us why Halter, why this role, and why you. Applications without a cover letter won't be considered. Please also note there will be regular travel required in the first six months.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE ACROSS THE ROTATION.

As you move through the programme, you'll get exposure to a range of go-to-market and customer functions. Depending on where you're placed at any given time, your days might include:

Business Development - Prospecting, pipeline management, on-farm demos, and closing deals with dairy farmers across Canterbury, Otago, or Southland.

Territory Management - Owning a region end-to-end. Selling to beef farmers, supporting existing customers, and building lasting advisor relationships.

Customer Onboarding - Getting new farmers up and running with Halter. Guiding them through setup, building confidence in the platform, and setting them up for long-term success.

Customer Support - Being the first port of call for farmers when they need help. Solving problems quickly, building trust, and feeding field insights back into Halter's product and support teams.

Fleet - Getting hands-on with the hardware side of Halter, understanding how our devices are deployed, managed, and maintained across farms, and how fleet operations underpin everything our farmers experience on the ground.

Regardless of where the rotation takes you, you'll spend a lot of time outdoors, on farms, with your sleeves rolled up. You'll also spend time at Auckland HQ, so travel is required.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

We care about attitude and potential more than we care about your GPA. Here's what matters:

  • You've recently graduated (or are about to) - agriculture, business, science, or any degree that's taught you how to think and work hard.

  • You have a genuine connection to farming - grown up on a farm, studied it, worked in it, or just deeply passionate about it.

  • You're competitive. You set goals and you don't stop until you've hit them.

  • You run towards a challenge, not away from it.

  • You're resilient. Things won't always go your way. You'll learn fast, adapt, and come back stronger.

  • You can build trust quickly with people from all walks of life, particularly farmers who've heard every pitch before.

  • You're hungry to grow, not just in your role, but as a person.

  • You hold a full New Zealand driver's licence and are willing to travel.

We don't expect you to have all the answers. We expect you to be the kind of person who works relentlessly to find them.

GROWTH AT HALTER.

This programme is designed to launch careers, not just fill roles. Halter is scaling fast, and we promote from within. The graduates we hire today are the regional sales managers, customer success leaders, and commercial team leads of tomorrow.

You'll have access to world-class sales training and mentorship from some of the most talented people in New Zealand's agri-tech sector. At the end of the rotation, we'll work with you to find where your strengths and interests align, and place you in a permanent role at Halter from there.
