Mechanical AIT Engineering Technician

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) Engineering Technician that wants to define the future of thermal management and energy technologies for rovers, habitats, landers, satellites, and beyond. As AIT Engineering Technician you will support the production and qualification of spacecraft thermal hardware. In this hands-on role you will be responsible for fabrication, assembly, and integration of thermal control hardware and execution of functional and environmental testing activities. You will be working closely with engineers and the production team, you will help transform designs into flight-ready hardware while maintaining the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and reliability. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building hardware, solving practical problems, and contributing directly to space missions in a dynamic startup environment.
As AIT Engineering Technician, your key technical responsibilities include:
- Manufacture and fabricate custom Multilayer Insulation (MLI) blankets according to engineering drawings, procedures, and quality requirements.
- Cut, assemble, sew, bond, and inspect insulation materials and associated components.
- Prepare materials, tools, and production documentation required for hardware fabrication.
- Support production planning and scheduling activities to meet project milestones.
- Assemble thermal hardware, flight components, and mechanical subassemblies.
- Perform integration activities following established work instructions and engineering procedures.
- Install thermal blankets, heaters, sensors, harnesses, and associated thermal control hardware on spacecraft components and subsystems.
- Verify hardware conformity against drawings, parts lists, and technical specifications.
- Execute functional, performance, and acceptance testing of thermal hardware and assemblies.
- Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Record, analyze, and document test results.
- Support thermal vacuum, environmental, and qualification testing campaigns.
- Troubleshoot assembly and test anomalies and collaborate with engineers to identify corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, cleanliness requirements, and configuration control processes.
- Perform inspections and verify workmanship throughout production and test activities.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of manufacturing procedures and work instructions
Required Qualifications
- Technical diploma, vocational training, or degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of demonstrated working experience with space hardware.
- Hands-on experience in assembly, manufacturing, testing, and integration of mechanical or aerospace hardware.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
- Experience using standard workshop tools and measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Ability to perform precise manual tasks requiring fine motor skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand and move around workshop, laboratory, cleanroom, and test facilities for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measurement instruments.
- Comfortable working in cleanroom environments and wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Ability and desire to relocate to Luxembourg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with aerospace hardware
- Experience with TVAC operations and maintenance
- Experience with high temperature applications.
- Experience with different types of thermal insulation.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (ECSS, NASA GEVS)
