CNC Machinist – All Levels / All Shifts

This role is part of our Space and Launch business, which has contributed to the nation’s space programs for decades by delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. We enable successful space operations with missioncritical technology supporting every step from first launch to final landing, including launch vehicle subsystems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic and interstage systems, and payload protection and deployment. As a CNC Machinist, you will set up and operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines to manufacture precision components for space and defense applications. You will support machining operations from setup through inspection, ensuring all parts meet engineering and customer specifications while contributing to a clean, organized, and efficient machining environment across all shifts and machining centers.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates CNC machines to fabricate components according to engineering specifications and customer drawings.
  • Performs machining tasks including loading and unloading materials, deburring parts, conducting inprocess inspections, and supporting packaging of finished components.
  • Ensures machined parts meet all dimensional and quality requirements outlined in drawings and supporting documentation.
  • Maintains production accuracy through proper machine operation, measurement techniques, and consistent qualitycontrol practices.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and applies shop inspection skills and related tools.
  • Uses measuring tools and setup tools to verify dimensions and ensure machining accuracy.
  • Troubleshoots machining and production issues using supported tools and established procedures.
  • Supports work across multiple machine centers as needed.
  • Maintains equipment, tooling, and shop cleanliness.
  • Keeps machining areas organized and free of debris.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically 2–5 years of experience operating shop tools and equipment in a machining environment.
  • Preferred experience: Proficiency with lathe setup and operation (Mazak Integrex, Fanuc controls a plus)
  • Ability to read blueprints, understand Gcode and Mcode, troubleshoot production issues, and perform inspections.
  • General mechanical aptitude, dexterity, and proficiency with measuring and setup tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Versatility and experience across multiple machine centers.
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing, walking, or sitting for at least 8 hours.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds, with a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment.
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be worn.
  • Prolonged repetitive movement.
  • Constant holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands.
  • Occasional overhead, shoulderlevel, and belowshoulder reaching.
